orillia academy of karateWelcome to the Orillia Academy of Karate, where we pride ourselves on being friendly, family-oriented, and the perfect choice whether you’re a complete beginner or have trained elsewhere in the past.  Children over the age of ten are welcome.

Classes are highly disciplined, but fun, friendly and supportive.

Karate is applicable in our everyday lives as it encompasses self-respect, respect toward others, responsibility, honesty, decisiveness, a positive self-image, developing the ability to speak and perform before a group, and, in time, compassion and gentleness.

Classes are held at Rotary Place, Mondays & Wednesdays

6 pm – 7:30 pm


Winter 2025 Session: January 6th until March 31st. No class on February 17 (Family Day)

Spring 2025 Session:  April 2nd until June 30th. No class on April 21st (Easter Monday). No class on May 19th (Victoria Day)

 


Sessions last 8 weeks. Cost is $145 for residents and $181.25 for non-residents. Discounts applied for seniors and facility members.

KIDS CLASSES, INSTRUCTED BY BLACK BELT STACEY THEIS

 

 

Monday   

Kinder Karate   4:30 – 5 pm, ages 4-6.  Max class size: 10

Come explore what the wonderful martial art of karate has to offer. Students will build confidence, discipline, and physical coordination while learning about karate through interactive activities such as basic kicks, punches, and rolls .  

Monday 

Kids Karate   5 pm – 5:45 pm,  ages 7-10.  Max class size: 15

For those who have completed the beginner class, students will continue their development in the martial art of karate-do to build self-confidence while improving concentration, discipline, and physical coordination. This is a continuous program in which students further develop their basics (punches, kicks, stances, blocks), sparring, and more advanced katas at their own pace while working towards attaining the first coloured belts: yellow and green. Please note that attaining the first belt will take time and practice to acquire. KIAI!

Wednesday

Beginner Karate   5 pm -5: 45 pm, ages 7-10.  Max class size: 15 

Build self-confidence while improving concentration, discipline, and physical coordination in our Kids’ karate program! Karate is a martial art that combines the use of punches, kicks, and defensive techniques learned while doing fundamentals and kata techniques.  Students will learn basic blocks, punches, kicks, and stances, counting in Japanese to ten and two white belt katas. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle.  This is for beginners who have not previously taken karate at the Orillia Academy of Karate.
